The Butterfly Chair

The BKF chair was designed by the Austral Group, in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1938. The partners of the group were Antonio BonetJuan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, so the chair was named “BKF” after them. - Via: 1 | 2 | 3

Eichler Home Burns Down | Before & After

Sad news to report. An historic mid-century modern home went up in flames around 3pm of April 7 in San Jose. The 4 bedroom/2 bath Eichler home on Mossbrook Circle was built in 1963. You can see the before and after in the first two photos above. The rest of the photos show some of the other homes in the neighborhood. The residents of the home, which include the original owner were able to escape without injury.

Eichler homes are sometimes called “Seven-Minute Eichlers" because of their propensity to burn fast. Mike Lovejoy, a 30 year resident said, "There’s the atrium, and that creates a draft effect that sucks the air up and through," he said. "And the inside walls are made of oiled mahogany."

A couple of other homes in this neighborhood have burned down over the years. Let’s hope this will be the last. - Via: 1 | 2
