1945 Case Study House #9 | Architects: Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen Location: 205 Chautauqua Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90272
Case Study House #9 was designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen for Art and Architecture magazine publisher, John Entenza.
John Entenza was to modernism what Anna Wintour is to fashion. Editor of the magazine from 1940 until 1962, he was the first to publish and popularize the works of now-legendary designers such as Harry Bertoia, the Eameses, Craig Ellwood, and George Nakashima.
Arts & Architecture magazine, started the Case Study Program and commissioned major architects to design and build inexpensive and efficient model homes for the United States residential housing boom caused by the end of World War II and the return of millions of soldiers. It ran from 1945 to 1966.
