Mid-Century Modern Freak

Atomic. Futurist. Populuxe. Googie. Modernist.

The amazing set design of the 2011 film, “The Tree of Life,” starring Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, and Sean Penn, is set in 1950s Texas. Production designer, Jack Fisk, filled the rooms with soft earthtone hues that gave the interiors warmth and charm as the southern sun provided all the lighting needed. All the mid-century furniture was found in the Austin area and the house is located in the town of Smithville.
