The Dansette Conquest auto was considered a cut above other models, with its superior amplifier, 2 internal loud speakers and quality Monarch auto-change deck. Not only was better than other models technically but aesthetically, this model is one of the best examples of mid-century design, with its bold, rocket shaped front grille, bold control dials, sweeping curves and its own legs! It is not only a functional record player but a stand alone piece of furniture in 2 tone red and cream coloring! - Via

1961 Chrysler ‘TurboFlite’ was the company’s...

1961 Chrysler ‘TurboFlite’ was the company’s showcar which featured their latest gas turbine engine, “CR2A” - Via: 1 | 2 | 3

Someone please save This GEM!

The Gobbler Restaurant & Motel in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin was designed by architect Helmut Ajango for local poultry processor Clarence Hartwig and opened in 1967. The menu featured turkey, prime rib and steak. A rotating circular bar that completed one revolution every 80 minutes was a signature centerpiece of the building.

in later years, the business struggled and Clyde Hartwig closed operations by 1995. After the Hartwig family sold the property and several restaurants were opened but ultimately failed because the owners had no experience as restaurateurs.

The legendary supper club remains, but the motel was burned (because of structural wood rot) as a fire department training exercise in 2001. The last tenant went out of business in mid-2002. In 2011, the locally produced film “Missed Connections” was shot on location at the restaurant.

The property is currently listed for a $2.3 million.

Designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen Associates, the pavilion created the effect of a covered garden, with all exhibits in the open beneath a grove of 45, 32-feet high, man-made steel trees.

The 54,038 sq. ft. pavilion was divided into six sections: The “Information Machine,” a 90-foot-high main theater with multiple screen projection; pentagon theaters, where puppet-like devices explained the workings of data processing systems; computer applications area; probability machine; scholar’s walk; and a 4,500-square-foot administration building.
